Penelope's Purse came to us through Angela Santomero, co-creator of Blue's Clues, which meant a very specific set of pre-K TV standards to hit: how much motion was allowed on screen, how close characters sat to camera, how simple every shot had to read.

None of it was arbitrary. It's the same rigor that's shaped decades of good pre-K programming, and getting it exactly right was the job.

We were picking this series up from the studio that had produced it before us — but there was no existing style guide to inherit, so we built our own from scratch. We spoke with the previous producer and the previous animation team several times to get up to speed, and we're in close coordination with the project's new creative producer, along with the creator, to make sure we're hitting their vision exactly as they want it.

The series itself is full 3D, built in Blender, rigged specifically to stay inside those constraints: restrained camera work, limited character motion, compositions built for close, simple readability.

The real craft here was restraint. Designing for stillness and simplicity is its own discipline — every pose, every camera distance, every beat of motion had to do more with less. That's a harder brief to hit well than “make it move” ever is.

The final series hit every guideline in the brief — motion limits, camera distance, visual simplicity — delivered through a fully rigged 3D Blender pipeline built specifically for the format.
